SCHOOL CAR PARK

You will see that the school car park has a new barrier.  This is a polite reminder that the car park is for staff and not for dropping off or collecting your children.  We would appreciate your support in not using our car park during the school day and not tailgating staff into the car park.

BICYCLES AND SCOOTERS

We have been advised of a lost scooter within school.  If you have recently taken one home by mistake, please can you contact the school office.  Children are encouraged to come to school on a bicycle or a scooter but a reminder that items are left at your own risk.  There are several cycle pods around school so please remember to secure with a sturdy lock if they are left on site.

SCHOOL PHOTOS - DONATION

Braiswick Photographics has donated £117 to Cancer Research based on the number of school photos bought by families last month.

SCHOOL COLLECTIONS

Thank you for your generous donations at recent events at school.  We are pleased to confirm that £221.87 was raised at the KS1 Christmas shows and a further £103.93 at yesterday’s music concert.  Our School Council will be choosing a charity in January for the proceeds to go to and we will keep you informed of this.

KS1 HISTORY DAY

Key Stage 1 had a fantastic day stepping back in time to 1666 where we explored the 'Great Fire of London'.

We particularly focused on how and why the fire spread so quickly through London. In order to show this, we made Tudor houses and then divided them into two different groups.

The first group of houses were set up similar to those in 1666 where the streets were narrow and the houses were built very close together. The second group of houses were set up to replicate the houses in 1670, where they learnt from previous mistakes and did not build them so close together. We then set the houses alight and the children observed the controlled fire to see the differences in how they burnt and made comparisons between the two groups.

It was a brilliant educational experience for all of the children and really brought history to life!

KS1 CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE

Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Key Stage 1 Christmas performance 'Gnome Alone'. It was great to see so many of you in the audience and we hope that you enjoyed the show. The children put on a great performance and they should be very proud of their efforts. Thank you once again to all of the parents for providing costumes and supporting the children.

CROSS COUNTRY

Well done to the Cross Country club for their commitment this term. Also a huge well done to the Year 5/6 team that have represented the school this year - thank you for their dedication to practise and for attending the races at the weekend. They showed great sportsmanship and improved on their times throughout the season. Cross Country club will continue after the Christmas holidays and there will be information given out at the next club regarding future fixtures. Children will be selected for league events based on their performance during Friday practices.

LOST PROPERTY

We are accumulating a large number of lost property items. Please can you ensure that you label all of your child's belongings including water bottles and P.E kits.

SPRING TERM

We break up for two weeks on Friday 20th December and come back to school for the Spring Term on Monday 6th January 2020.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE STAFF

Thanks for all of your help and support during the Autumn term.  We hope you and your children have enjoyed the Christmas celebrations taking place in school.  Have a great Christmas from all the Staff and we wish you and your family a very Happy New Year.

RHA NEWS

The RHA would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone for their contributions towards our fundraising events this term.  We’ve been kept very busy with Christmas Cards, the Shopping Evening and the Christmas Fair.

The Christmas Fair was a great success and we raised just over £1,800 (including the fantastic year 6 stalls). All of the money that the Year 6’s raise as part of their pound project is used towards their end of term day out/event.

A big festive thank you.
