Week Beginning 29th June

Topic

For this week’s topic, we would like you to get creative again but this time design and invent your very own sport! To design your own sport you can combine two existing sports together for example combining chess and boxing to create the sport ‘chess boxing’. Once you have thought of two sports to combine together give your new sport a name and describe it in detail about how it would work. Think carefully about the equipment that is needed, the players and the rules and make sure they are clearly explained. Once you have described your new sport then draw a picture to show your new sport and make sure it is labeled. However, if you don’t want to combine two existing sports but want to be daring and completely create a new sport from scratch then you can do this too. If possible, you could even have a go at playing your new sport that you have designed.

Good luck and have fun!

Literacy

Continuing from last week…

1. This week we will be writing a sequel to the story last week. We are going to use a wishing tale structure. We are going to think about what happens to the man next. When he wakes up what is the first thing he is thinking? What is he going to do next? How does he get out of bed when his whole house has disappeared! Look at the wishing tale structure sheet.

Mind map four different ideas of what could happen to the man at each point of the story.

The human was asleep in his bed and then woke up…

Use the mind map to think of your ideas (planning ideas sheet).

2.  Today you are going to choose one of your ideas and plan a story mountain (like you did last week) for your sequel. A plan is short notes outlining your ideas. Use the table to help you think what happens at each point of your story. You might want to draw your own or use the PDF story mountain. Join the build up and the problem together.

3. Today we are going to write our first paragraph of our story. Set the scene. Think about how your character was described last week and how they might feel now? Can you show their feelings in their actions and appearance instead of just telling the reader how they felt. Decide what your character wants to do now. Use the keywords box to help (Planning sheet one).

4. Plan the rest of your story. There are fronted adverbials at the bottom to help you. Think about key features you can include (final planning sheet).

5. Have a go at writing out your story! Try to challenge yourself you might manage one paragraph or you might manage to write them all.

Good luck!
