Christmas carols

A group of children from years 5 and 6 sang some Christmas carols for local elderly people. We had lots of fun, putting smiles on lots of people's faces as they sang and clapped along to their favourites. A big well done and thank you to all the children who took part!

don’t forget tomrrow is…

…Christmas Jumper and/or Accessory Day.  We have had so many recent fund raising events this year we didn’t feel it was appropriate to have yet another one where we asked for money.  It would be a shame not to get involved and have some fun though, so if your child would like to wear a Christmas Jumper or accessorise with some Christmas tinsel/antlers etc… then please feel free to do so on the last day of term, Tuesday 20th December.

Toy Donations - Stay and Play Group

In the New Year Mrs Harrod and Ms Eddison will be hosting a stay and play group for some children in Foundation and KS1.

If any parents have any toys or games that your children no longer use or have outgrown, please could you kindly consider donating any items for the Stay and Play Group.

2016 KS2 Performance Tables

You may have noticed from the text sent to parents last week that the Department For Education (DfE) has released the KS2 2016 Performance Data.  You can find a letter to accompany the results and link on the school website Click here.

Spring Term 2016

We break up for two weeks on Tuesday 20th December and come back to school for the Spring Term on Wednesday 4th January 2016.

Punctuality

I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that we regularly monitor when pupils arrive in the morning. As a school we place great importance on being on time for school.  You may have noticed this in the Home/School Agreement in your child’s School Planner.  The first activity of the day is one of the most important as it allows children to settle quickly in readiness for the day ahead.

School start times are as follows:

KS2 8.50 a.m.

KS1 8.55 a.m.

EYFS 9.00 a.m.

Please ensure your children are on the playground before this time so they can enter the school with their classmates and begin morning routines promptly.  We understand that there will be times when children are late and as long as this does not happen regularly there is nothing to worry about.  Should lateness become a concern we will contact you to discuss the matter further.

Lost property

I have been asked by a parent if all parents can check at home to see if your child may have brought home items of clothing that don’t belong to them.  If this is the case can you return them to the school office.  Thank you.

Labelled items will be returned to your child – unlabelled items will be placed in lost property. Parents are welcome to come and check the lost property box after school. PLEASE write your child’s name in their property.

At the end of each half term, any unclaimed lost property will be disposed of.

Well done to Miss Stephenson

Congratulations to our very own Miss Stephenson who is a Rainbow Leader with the 6th Beeston Rainbows.  She has been awarded her Queen’s Guide Award by Girl Guiding Nottinghamshire’s County Commissioner Jackie Brocklehurst.

Mrs Aplin - maternity leave

Parents of children in Otters Class will already know that Mrs Aplin starts her maternity leave from January and Miss Suzie Lee will be replacing her.  Mrs Aplin has promised to keep in touch and I will let you know any news via the newsletters.

Merry Christmas from the Staff Team

As mentioned in the last Newsletter - Many thanks for your help and support over the last few months.  We look forward to 2017, but for now from all the Staff we hope you have a great Christmas and wish you and your family a happy New Year.

Cross Country News

The final meeting of the Nottinghamshire Cross Country League took place on Saturday 9th December and 11 children (along with a band of supporters) made the trip up to Mansfield to take part. Rosie finished off the series of races with another victory making it three wins out of three and ensuring that she won the individual gold medal. Libby and Daisy made up the remaining scoring positions for the team with Ciara not far behind them. This meant that overall, the Year 6 girls' team finished in a fantastic 2nd place in the County! Well done girls! In the boys race, Frankie had a great debut run against children in the year above him and finished in 5th. We're looking forward to more cross country races in the New Year.
