Hello, my name is Abbie Swankie. I am Art and Design curriculum lead at Round Hill Primary School. I am passionate about fostering creativity and believe that Art provides an opportunity for children to express themselves in their own unique way. Our Art and Design lessons are initially skills based and taught in a cross-curricular context. The children explore different techniques using line, shape, space, colour and texture. They document their learning journey in their sketchbooks which show their progression of skills throughout their time at school.

At Round Hill, we make our Art and Design purposeful by studying local artists, artists from other cultures and art from different periods of time. The children learn to develop, share and evaluate their own art work as well as that of others.
