Round Hill Bulletin – 3rd October 2018

The Round Hill Bulletin is designed to help disseminate important information in between monthly Newsletters.   A copy will be placed on the School Website.

Whole School Information

Literacy Lessons               We would like to let you all know, that in line with our plans for continued school improvement, we are no longer going to be doing ‘Let’s Write’ sessions on a Friday. Let’s Write will be replaced by literacy lessons that lead up to and support independent writing. Pieces of writing will still be authored but through a slower process which will allow pupils a greater opportunity to receive support and feedback as they write. They will also have a greater opportunity to review and improve their work. There will no longer be the traditional, weekly, Let’s Talk Homework although you may be asked to talk about ideas and writing with your child.

Fortnite Letter  You will have received a letter this week regarding the online battle game Fortnite.  In the letter I explained that we have become aware of an increasing number of children across KS2 playing the popular online battle arena game Fortnite. I would be very grateful if you could take the time to read the letter and discuss the contents with your child.  Thank you for your help.

School Start Times           Please ensure your child is at school on time every day.  EYFS children start at 9.00 a.m. and should enter through the gates on the small playground. For KS1 and KS2 children, the whistle goes at 8.50 a.m. on the large playground and this means that all children should line up.

We close the school gates promptly at 9.00 a.m. as part of our safeguarding procedures.  Children arriving after this time should enter through the main doors and let a member of the Office Team know that they have arrived.  Late comers will be recorded and monitored.

Parents’ Forum Our next Parents’ Forum is at 2pm on Tuesday 9th October.  Please note that the later session at 6pm has moved to Thursday 11th October.  If you are interested in attending either session, please sign up at the school office.

HOPE Donation Box        Our HOPE Donation box is still in our reception area.  Please drop any items you have into the box.  It would be great if any donations have as long a ‘use by’ date as possible.  Our next collection will be during w/c 22nd October.

KS1 Parent Reading Days              The KS1 Parent Reading Days will be taking place on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th October. Thank you to all those parents who have volunteered to read.

Badgers Class Assembly                The Badgers Class Assembly will be taking place on Wednesday 17th October at 3.00pm in the school hall. Please can all parents attending the event arrive via the main reception.

Communication                A reminder that our Newsletters will be issued on a monthly basis, around the middle of each month.  Our Bulletins will be issued in between our Newsletters when we have important information to share with you.
