NEWSLETTER 15 – 21ST APRIL 2017

WELCOME BACK

Welcome back to the summer term!  We have got lots of fun activities planned for the final term of this academic year which you can keep track of by looking at the school website and the calendar on the website.

END OF KEY STAGE ASSESSMENTS

Year 2 will be completing their SATs assessments during the month of May.  It is important that all the children take part in these assessments and they will be taking place right up to the end of this half term.

In addition, Year 6 will be taking part in their SATs assessments during the week beginning 8th May.  Please do not take children out of school during this time or in the time leading up to it, as children will be involved in revision lessons over the next few weeks.

FOUNDATION AND YEAR 6 PHOTOS

On Wednesday 10th May, the Foundation classes will have their Group Photos.  In addition, our Year 6 classes will also have their Leavers Group Photo.

FUNDING FOR EXTENDED TOILETS IN DINING ROOM CORRIDOR

We have managed to secure funding to extend the toilet area in the dining room corridor.  Currently we have 1 toilet and 2 sinks in this area and the plans are to increase the facilities to have 7 toilets and 6 sinks.  This will be a great improvement in our school facilities and will also benefit Roundabout, the before and after school club for children.  We are hoping that this work will take place during the summer holidays.  Thank you to Mrs Greenhalgh for her work in securing this funding.

DONATIONS FOR STAY AND PLAY SESSIONS

A big thank you to everyone who has donated toys and resources for the stay and play group and the playroom. If you would still like to donate any items to school it would be very much appreciated. Please can you send your donations via the office or see Mrs Eddison and Mrs Harrod.

SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM RESULTS

The school football team had a couple of tough fixtures in the week before the Easter Holidays. There was a difficult away match against Bramcote Hills which ended in a 4-0 defeat despite a strong first half performance. The team's other match was against Bramcote CoE and was played at home. After a tight game, the team triumphed 3-1 and this should be a great way to set the team up for the upcoming South Broxtowe tournament.

On Thursday 30th March, Mr Abdy and Mr Walker (a willing parent volunteer!) took 14 girls to take part in a Football Tournament at the University of Nottingham. The girls were split into two teams and everyone involved represented the school brilliantly. When all the games had been played, both teams were presented with medals by Notts County professional and Scottish International Leanne Crichton with one of our teams being crowned champions! Well done to everyone involved - it was a fantastic afternoon's football!

CHRISTMAS STAMP DESIGN COMPETITION

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry for the 2017 Christmas Stamp Design Competition run by the Royal Mail.  Royal Mail has advised that they have received thousands and thousands of entries this year and that the long process of judging has begun. Each and every entry will be viewed and judged by their panel of judges over the next couple of months. Royal Mail will then be announcing the winners by July and will be in touch to let us know if we have one of the lucky 120 Area Finalists.
