REPORTING ABSENCES

If your child is off school for any reason, please ensure you contact the School Office on 0115 917 9262, ideally by 9.30am.  You can either talk to someone in the office or you are able to leave a message on our school answerphone.  If you choose to leave a message, please clearly state your child’s name, class and the reason for the absence.  We would appreciate your help with this to ensure we are always aware of any absences.

BOOK BAGS, PACKED LUNCHES ETC

We would appreciate your help in making sure that your child remembers everything they need for the school day when you leave them in the playground in the mornings i.e. packed lunches, musical instruments, water bottles etc.  This would really help the office team during the busy morning period.

ICE PACKS

If your child has had a bump at school and has taken one of our ice packs home with them, we would appreciate them being returned to school.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER AND / OR ACCESSORY DAY

We have had several fund raising events this year so we didn’t feel it was appropriate to have yet another one where we asked for money.  It would be a shame not to get involved and have some fun though, so if your child would like to wear a Christmas jumper or accessorise with some Christmas tinsel / antlers etc… then please feel free to do so on the last day of term, Friday 22nd December.

CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE

On Saturday 18th November, 16 children along with some supportive parents and Mr Abdy attended the second round of the Nottinghamshire Schools' Cross Country League at Berry Hill Park in Mansfield. There were some excellent performances with Tommy and William in Year 6 and 5 respectively finishing in the top 20 in the boy's race and Phoebe in Year 6 achieving the same result. Overall the boys now lie in 5th place whilst the girls are in 4th with one race remaining in the series.

‘INTO FILM FESTIVAL’ TRIP

On Thursday 23rd November, the whole of Years 5 and 6 made the short trip to Cineworld in the Cornerhouse.  They watched a film as part of the ‘Into Film Festival’ which is a national, educational film festival aimed at providing children the opportunity to take part in events at their local cinema. We watched the film 'A Beautiful Planet' which fitted in perfectly with our current topic - Earth and Space. The children really enjoyed watching the film in IMAX 3D and everyone who attended had a fantastic time.

CHILDREN IN NEED – THANK YOU

Thanks to everyone for your donations for Children in Need on 17th November.  We raised £233.15 for this great cause.

SCHOOL MENU CHANGE

During the first week back at school in January, there will be a menu swap on Tuesday 9th January and Friday 12th January.  This means that on Tuesday 9th January the menu will be MSC breaded fish, noisette potatoes and seasonal vegetables and on Friday 12th January it will be porkies in gravy, mashed potatoes & Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables.

THANK YOU – PARENTS EVENING

Thank you to everyone who attended the Parents Evening and the Taking Time for Talk sessions during November.  Your support is always very much appreciated.  Thank you also to those of you who took the time to complete the Annual Questionnaire to Parents/Carers.
