PARENTS’ FORUM

If you would like to get involved in school life, the next Parents’ Forum will be held on Wednesday 29th January at 2.30 p.m. and again on Thursday 30th January at 6.00 p.m.  Click here to find out more. The 6.00 p.m. session on 30th January will only go ahead if there are sufficient numbers so please let the office know if you are planning to attend.

STAFFING UPDATE

Mrs Aplin has landed safely in Australia, fortunately not too near the forest fires that have engulfed the country recently. She wanted to say hello to everyone especially the children in Puffins.

Mrs Taylor, the teacher in Birds Class, has changed to her family name of Miss Bond due to a marriage separation that happened last summer.  We would appreciate your support with explaining this to your child(ren) over the weekend to avoid too much confusion when we come back to school on Monday.

MIDDAY SUPERVISORS NEEDED

We need more Midday Supervisors in school to supervise the children at lunchtimes.  This is for 5 days a week (5 hours 25 minutes per week).  If you would like to find out more, please get in touch with the school office.

CHARITY DONATION

As confirmed in the December Newsletter, we raised £325.80 from our collections at the KS1 Christmas show and school music concert.  Our School Council have selected the 2 charities that we will split the money between and they are the WWF and Shelter. Thank you for your generous donations to support these charities.

CYBERBULLING

I wrote to all Year 5/6 last week and thought it would be a good idea to share the letter with all parents. As you would expect we take bullying very seriously at Round Hill and this includes cyber-bullying. Some of you will remember the points I made a couple of years ago regarding online safety, but I thought it worthwhile updating parents/carers about the work we do in school and how you can use this to help support your child to make appropriate choices.  Click here to read the letter.

KS1 READING DAY – AMENDMENT TO DATE

Please be advised of a slight change to the dates of the KS1 Reading Days.  These will take place on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th March (and not Thursday 12th March as previously stated on the website).  Further details will follow nearer the time.

PARENTS EVENINGS ON 3RD AND 4TH MARCH

We are looking forward to meeting with you at the next Parent/Teacher Consultation Meetings on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th March.  This is a chance to meet with your child’s class Teacher to discuss the achievements your child has made since September.

Letters regarding booking a slot for Parents Evening will be sent home nearer to the date.

WORLD BOOK DAY

We will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 6th March.  In order to avoid a costly outlay on costumes children will be asked to bring in an object (book included) from a famous literary character – no expectation to dress up but children can if they want to.  The items brought in will be used in class to promote the love of reading.

SPORTS RELIEF

A date for your diary is that Sports Relief is on Friday 13th March.  Children will be able to come to school in their sports kit and we will confirm details nearer the time.

SCHOOL CALENDAR – DIARY DATES

All of the dates for the Spring Term 2019-20 are on the website.  Please click here to view the school calendar.

Yours faithfully
