WELCOME BACK

Welcome back to the summer term!  We have got lots of fun activities planned for the final term of this school year which you can keep track of by looking at the school website and the calendar on the website.

AFTERSCHOOL PARENT AND PUPIL HOMEWORK CLUB

Beginning on the second week of the summer term, Round Hill will be offering an Afterschool Parent and Pupil Homework Club! The club will be run by Mr Joyce who will be on hand to offer advice and support where it's needed.  The club is designed to offer you and your child an opportunity to work together on their homework. You do not need to be invited, attend every week or tell anyone you'll be attending, simply turn up at Mr Joyce's classroom on Mondays after school until 5pm and bring your homework! If you have any questions/queries please get in touch with Mr Joyce via the office email or on the playground. Hopefully Mr Joyce will see lots of families at the first homework club on Monday 23rd April.

STAFFING NEWS

I am pleased to let you know that Miss Lee had a baby boy during the Easter holidays.  Congratuations to Miss Lee and her partner on this lovely news.

A huge congratulations to Miss Farrell who got married during the Easter holidays.  She returns to school as Mrs Farrell-Kay.

END OF KEY STAGE ASSESSMENTS

Year 2 will be completing their SATs assessments during the month of May.  It is important that all the children take part in these assessments and they will be taking place right up to the end of this half term. In addition, Year 6 will be taking part in their SATs assessments during the week beginning 14th May.  Please do not take children out of school during this time or in the time leading up to it, as children will be involved in revision lessons over the next few weeks.

LITTER/RECYCLING CLUB

Two of our children, Grace and Evie have spoken to me about starting a Litter/Recycling Club this term based on watching David Attenborough on the TV.  The following message is directly from them:

We are going to be starting a Litter Club.  We would like to know if any parents can assist us.  It would be even better if you were a biologist.  Please contact the School Office if you can help us.  Thanks, Grace and Evie.

SCHOOL MILK

Just a reminder that school milk is available for all children in school.  If your child is currently under 5, they can receive free milk at school, funded by the UK Government's Nursery Milk Scheme.

For children aged 5 and over, you have the option to pay for their milk. We have made arrangements with the UK’s leading school milk supplier, Cool Milk, to supply milk at a small subsidised daily cost.

If you don’t already have milk for your child but are interested in doing so, please visit www.coolmilk.com and select "Register your child for milk", then follow the on-screen instructions to register and pay.  Or for further details, please contact the School Office.

WILD AREA KITS

Please can you ensure that all Wild Area Kits are clearly labelled with your child’s name.  This really helps us to make sure every child has their correct kit in their bags.

DINNER MONEY - SQUID ACCOUNTS

For all KS2 children who have a hot school meal at lunchtime, it would be a great help if you could ensure that your sQuid account is in credit at all times.  This would really help us on a daily basis when processing all school dinners.

HOPE FOODBANK DONATION BOX

Further to the information in the March Newsletter, our donation box for HOPE Nottingham Foodbank is now in our reception area.  You are able to donate any tinned / packet food at any time for us to pass on to HOPE to help our local community.

SPORTS RELIEF – THANKS

Thank you to everyone for all the donations made for Sports Relief on Friday 23rd March.  We had a great day in school and raised just over £400 for this fantastic charity.

CHARITY WORK – SAMUEL, ALEX AND OLLIE

A huge congratulations to Samuel, Alex and Ollie on their recent charity fundraising.  Samuel’s Dad has kindly sent me the following to share with you all:

Samuel, Alex and Ollie decided they wanted to do something to help the rainbows charity - a hospice for life-limited children and young people. The Rainbows charity has a charity shop on Beeston High Street.  The boys got their heads together and decided to sell cookies, tea cakes and hand made badges at school to raise funds. After approval from Mr Nash the business of selling began!  Everyday was a complete sell out with customers lining up to buy delicious treats! The boys had intended to sell their products for 4 days but as snow closed the school they only managed 3 days but still raised an impressive £85!!  Well done boys on your charitable spirit and entrepreneurial skills!

GOING ON AN EGG HUNT

On Saturday 24th March school hosted an 'interactive' Easter egg hunt around the wild area based on the story 'Going on an egg hunt' (a spin-off from We're Going on a Bear Hunt book).  Donna Evans and her group of ESOL students led almost 100 children on the egg hunt, taking over two hours to find all the goodies!  The event was an overwhelming success and enjoyed by everyone who attended.  Takings for the event raised £275 which will go towards building the all-weather running track on the school field.  Thank you to everyone involved for organising and attending such a fun event for our school community.

CHEERLEADING COMPETITION

Well done to the KS1 and KS2 cheerleaders who both came first in the Broxtowe Schools Cheerleading Competition!  Both teams performed brilliantly and we were very proud of them all.  KS2 Cheerleaders are now working towards their next competition in Coventry!

DANCE FESTIVAL

Thank you to all of the children in KS1 and KS2 who recently participated in the 'Dance Festival' at Alderman White School. The children were involved in two fantastic dance routines and demonstrated a brilliant array of skills, enthusiasm and team work. The children were a credit to the school and should be proud of their achievements. We would also like to thank all of the parents who gave up their time to support the children and cheer them on!
