PARENTS EVENING - THANKS

Thank you to everyone who attended our parents evenings earlier this week.  Thank you as well for taking the time to check your child’s personal data sheet.  If for any reason you weren’t able to check the contact details and amend any changes, please can you contact the office team.

BROXTOWE INDOOR ROWING COMPETITION

On Thursday 8th February, 8 Key Stage 2 children, accompanied by Miss Dawson, Mrs Nassau and some parents travelled to George Spencer Academy to take part in the Broxtowe Indoor Rowing Competition. The competition was fierce – a staggering 16 schools took part (the highest number there has ever been)!  However, this did not deter our rowers who were excited, confident and determined. They all competed amazingly well and after lots of cheering, pulling and pushing the results were announced and Round Hill was placed in an outstanding 4th place! A huge congratulations to everybody who competed and a big thank you to the parents who came along to support. Well done!

STAFFING NEWS

Mrs Barto Smith will be leaving Round Hill on 23rd March after 9 years of service to the school. We are really sad to see her go particularly as she started her career at Round Hill. She will be joining St. Laurence’s in Long Eaton and she has promised to keep in touch. A collection envelope has been placed in the school office should anyone wish to add to the gift that staff will be buying her.

Mrs Paterson will be returning from maternity leave in the next few weeks and she will take over from Mrs Barto Smith as joint Team Leader with Ms Munro in Year 3/4 and teacher in Nightingales. Mr Abdy will continue to lead the year 5/6 team over the summer months.

OTTERS CLASS – MATERNITY COVER

We are pleased to advise that Mrs Jan Robinson will be joining us after the Easter Holidays to cover Miss Lee’s Maternity Leave in the Otters Class.  Mrs Robinson will spend some time in the class prior to the Easter Holidays to meet the children and will then take over teaching after Easter.

UPDATE ON HEATING SYSTEM

As per our e-mail on 27th February, we are pleased to let you know that the replacement heating system in school is almost complete and as a result we are feeling much warmer.  As the project nears conclusion there are several pieces of remedial work to be carried out in the boiler house – this work started on Weds 28th February and should finish in the next week or so.  The good news is that this work is taking place over night and at weekends to avoid further disruption to the school day.  Just in case anyone notices the lights on and activity, builders will be working on school site until the early hours of the morning.  The security firm that monitors the site overnight have been informed.  Children who attend Roundabout will have to enter the school via the front door for the foreseeable future. Any questions just ask.

HOPE DONATION BOX

We are pleased to let you know that in the next week or so we will have a collection / donation box in our reception area for HOPE Nottingham Foodbanks.  You are able to donate any tinned / packet food at any time and we will pass this onto HOPE to help our local community.

GOOD WORK ASSEMBLIES

All Good Work Assemblies scheduled for the Summer term after we return from our Easter break will take place at the new time of 3.00pm – 3.20pm.  Any assemblies between now and the Easter break will remain at 10.15am – 10.35am.

SCHOOL GATE OPENING TIMES

At the start of the school day we always aim to have the school gates open by 8.40am.  There are occasions when we may be a minute or two late and I would ask that you bear with us at these times.  Occasionally there are things that happen in school which prevent our Site Manager from having them all open by 8.40am.  In addition, we cannot let the children onto the playground until it is safe to do so which includes having the correct number of staff present in the playgrounds.

EASTER MUSIC CONCERT

A reminder that there will be an Easter Music Concert on Wednesday 28th March. The concert will include a wide range of music groups that are at Round Hill, including our amazing orchestra and choirs. It will be in the school hall at 4.00pm and will be due to finish at around 5.00pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

PARENT INTERPRETERS

Thank you so much for the responses to our letter about Parent Interpreters. We are always looking for parents who are able to use their language skills to help new families settle into our school. If you would like to be added to our list of volunteers, please contact Miss Bond or Miss Morle through the school office.

PARKING AT DROP OFF / PICK UP

We have unfortunately been made aware again of some parents parking inappropriately and blocking in some of our local residents when dropping off / collecting their children from school.  We have now been given some photographs from local residents of the offending vehicles and I have reported them to the police.  Please always be considerate to our neighbours and local residents.

CHILDMINDER CONTACT DETAILS

We have been asked by a local Childminder to share their contact details.  Before we do this, we would like to ask if any other Childminders would also like us to share their details.  If so, please can these be sent to the School Office.  Look out for these details in a future Newsletter or Bulletin.

SPRING TERM DATES

The Spring term runs until Thursday 29th March when we break up for the Easter Holidays.  We return to school on Monday 16th April 2018.

SCHOOL CALENDAR – DIARY DATES

All of the dates for the Spring and Summer terms are on the website so click here to view the school calendar.

COMMUNITY NEWS

RHA NEWS

We are pleased to let you know that the RHA will once again be covering the cost of the coach travel for the Y6 residential to Beaumanor.

With the recent weather it's hard to believe that the committee are already preparing for the Summer Fair on Saturday 16th June. We would be very grateful for raffle prizes from local businesses so if you have any contacts please let us know or indeed if you own a business and would like to donate a prize. Also, this year we would like to ask companies to sponsor a stall by agreeing to match the money raised by that stall on the day of the fair. Again, please get in touch with any contact details you have for businesses that may be interested in supporting us.
