Week Beginning 01.06.20

Hello Year 6's!

Here are your learning activities for this week. Please read the information carefully as there are different activities for those of you who are not coming to school this week.

  • For those attending school on Wednesday and Thursday, please take a look at the "Weekly Work Summary" document below as this will tell you which activities will be completed at school (indicated with a RH rose). Please do not complete these activities at home.
  • For those not attending school this week, please try to complete the activities which are being done at school (those with a RH rose next to them on the "Weekly Work Summary"). You can complete these on any day.
  • You can find plenty more 'optional' activities to complete by also looking at the 'Weekly Work Summary' document.

We can't wait to see your work uploaded onto your Class Dojo Portfolios. Keep up the hard work, we are so proud of all of you.

Take care and have a fantastic week,

The Year 5/6 Teachers

Financial Literacy: This half term we will be looking at financial literacy, learning all about money. There are 2 lessons below for you to work through. These will be completed in school.

Arithmetic: Practice your arithmetic skills daily with these games:

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Studio and 10 Arena games which have been set for you. Those in school will have the opportunity to complete at least some of this.

Take a look at the 'Writing task story start' document and complete the activities linked to this on pages 2-5.

Spelling and Grammar (SPaG):

SPaG: Correct the mistakes in the sentences in the file below. This will be completed in school.

Spelling: Practise 10 of the statutory spelling words for your year group (See the 'Year 5 and 6 Statutory spellings' document below).

This week’s reading comprehension activity, all about Mo Farrah, can be found in the "Reading Comprehension Mo Farrah" document.

Please complete the 1-star, 2-star or 3-star activity - whichever you feel is most appropriate. Our suggestion would be that Year 5 pupils try the 2-star task and Year 6 pupils complete the 3-star task.

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.

Broader curriculum:

PSHE: Use the sheets below to review the past couple of months. This will be completed in school.

Topic: Take a look through the work on the school website from last half term and complete any activities that you didn’t get chance to do.

PE: Keep exercising with Joe Wicks! There is also an optional set of activities linked to orienteering which you can try out (see below).

Computing: Complete the “Air Traffic Control” activity which has been set as a 2Do on Purple Mash. Practice your coding skills whilst helping the planes take off and land!

Art and Science: Have a look at the amazing optional tasks below!
