Here are your learning activities for this week. You can find plenty more 'optional' activities to complete by looking at the 'Weekly Work Summary' document below. 

Keep on uploading your terrific work onto your Class Dojo Portfolios. Remember, you can now earn Petal Dojos to help you receive your Bronze, Silver or Gold sticker at the end of the week!

The Year 5/6 Teachers

Maths:

Lesson 1: Order and compare decimals

  1. Watch this lesson video
  2. Complete the Order and Compare Decimals worksheet
  3. When you have finished, mark your work using the answers.
  4. Send a photo of your work to your class teacher using your ClassDojo portfolio.

Lesson 2: Understand percentages

Repeat the steps for Lesson 1.

Fluent in Five: Complete the Fluent questions for the 12th and 14th May. (Click on the links)

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Arena and 10 Sound Check games which have been set for you.

Writing:

This week’s writing task is about Captain Tom Moore. Take a look at the Writing instructions and information sheets below. 

Spelling and Grammar (SpAG):

Spelling: Practise 10 of the statutory spelling words for your year group (See the 'Year 5 and 6 Statutory spellings' document below).

Grammar: Look at the information below about different sentence types, and then watch  this video. Create a song about any (or some, or all!) of the SPaG areas we have looked at whilst we’ve been learning at home (synonyms and antonyms; nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs; relative clauses; modal verbs; inverted commas; and sentence types). 

Reading:

 This week’s reading comprehension activity, which is about V.E. Day , can be found in the 'Reading Comprehension VE Day' document.

Please complete the 1-star, 2-star or 3-star activity - whichever you feel is most appropriate. Our suggestion would be that Year 5 pupils try the 2-star task and Year 6 pupils complete the 3-star task.

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.
