Week Beginning 15.06.20

Hello Year 6's!

Here are your learning activities for this week. You can find plenty more 'optional' activities to complete by looking at the 'Learning Summary Sheet' document at the bottom of this page.

We can't wait to see your work uploaded onto your Class Dojo Portfolios. Keep up the hard work, we are so proud of all of you.

Take care and have a fantastic week,

The Year 5/6 Teachers

Maths:

Financial Literacy: This week we are working through lessons 6-8 of our Financial Literacy work. Work through each lesson and complete the task at the end of each one. Lesson 8 has a sheet for you to complete, which you can either print and fill in, or copy out. There is also a sheet for the extension activity if you get onto it!

Harry Potter Maths: Work through the “Maths HP Lesson 1 slides” alongside the “Maths HP Lesson 1” sheets from the school website and do some Harry Potter Maths! For some questions, you will need to look at the sheets for some pieces of information.

Arithmetic skills: Try to do an arithmetic activity each day by challenging yourself with these questions. Screenshot your scores if you can and post them on Class Dojo.

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Festival and 10 Studio games which have been set for you.

Writing:

We are continuing our work on “The Lighthouse” this week. The video can be found by following the link in the lesson or by clicking on this link. Work through Lessons 3-5, answering the questions as you go and using the resources for each lesson which can be found at the bottom of this page.

Spelling and Grammar (SPaG):

Spelling: Practise 10 of the statutory spelling words for your year group (See the 'Year 5 and 6 Statutory spellings' document below).

Grammar: Look through the “Reported Speech Lesson” then complete the “Reported Speech Activity” sheet which can be found at the bottom of this page.

Reading:

This week’s reading comprehension activity, all about Florence Nightingale, can be found in the "Reading Newspaper Florence Nightingale" document.

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.

Topic:

Leavers' Books: This week you will be starting a project to create your Leavers‘ Books! Please look at home for any photos from events at school such as Y2 camp, Ilam Hall, Beaumanor or sports days. You will be able to photocopy these at school if you need to keep the original. If you have electronic copies and cannot print them, please add them to Class Dojo and we will try to print them at school. Please do not email any photos to the office.

Once you have your Leavers’ Book from school (you should have had an email on Friday), fill in the first pages, up to and including the pages about Y2 camp if possible.. We will be doing a few pages of this each week. Use the space to write down your memories and stick any photos. You can also decorate the pages. This is something you will be able to look back at when you’re older, so make it something you’re proud of.

Broader curriculum:

PE: Keep exercising with Joe Wicks!

Computing: Complete “2publish” on Purple Mash and create a card for a special occasion!

Science & More!:  Amazing optional tasks are detailed in the "Weekly Work Summary" document below. We can't wait to see the work that you complete!

Extra fun learning:

Please also have a look at the "Y6 Learning Summary Sheet wc 15.06.20" document. There are LOADS of fun and useful 'Optional' activities for you to enjoy on there. Don't forget to share your wonderful work  on your Class Dojo Portfolio!
