Week beginning 20.07.20

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have made it to the end of the school year! This is the final week of online work that we will be setting. Well done to everyone for all they have achieved over the past few months, and thank you to you all for your support.

As usual, please look at the 'Learning Summary' PDF overview of tasks we’d like children to complete at home this coming week. They can share what they are doing with us on Class Dojo. For those children coming into school, activities with the school logo beside them will be completed in school so should not be done at home in advance.

We hope you all have a fantastic summer and look forward to seeing you in September!

Best wishes,

The Year 5/6 Teachers

Maths:

Lesson 1: To convert between units of length

Lesson 2: To apply length conversions to problems

Puzzles: Test your brain with some different puzzles and challenges! (This activity will be completed in school)

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Festival and 10 Studio games which have been set for you.

Optional: Complete the unit on volume by working through this lesson.

Writing:

Look at the information about a new way to travel, the Zepper 2016, and complete the activities on pages 2– 5 of the booklet.

Spelling and Grammar (SPaG):

Grammar: Visit this website and complete the lesson, quizzes and activities which are all about modal verbs!

Spelling: At the end of the above SPaG lesson, there are some spelling words for you to practice, containing the letters -ei-.

Reading:

This week’s reading comprehension is on a text called “Marcus Rashford”.

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.

Topic:

Visit France! This week we would like you to continue to work on a project all about France. There is a section on the school website which contains a grid of ideas and some resources you can use. Choose from any of the activities and complete as many as you can. Read the France Powerpoint before you start. If you’ve got an idea that isn’t on the grid, feel free to do that too! Be as creative as you can!

Music Festival: Continue to plan your music festival! Work through “Topic Music Festival” Lessons 3, 4 and 5, using the slides and sheets on the school website. These will give you full instructions on how to plan your festival, including ticket prices, planning a programme and designing adverts! (This activity will be completed in school)

Broader curriculum:

PE: Keep exercising with Joe Wicks! There is also an optional set of activities linked to rugby which you can try out (see below), and a challenge you can try on this week's learning summary sheet.

Computing: Complete Comic Strip on Purple Mash. Use the template to make a cartoon strip about anything of your choice!

Science, R.E., P.S.H.E & More!:  Amazing optional tasks are detailed in the "Learning Summary" document below. We can't wait to see the work that you complete!

Extra fun learning:

Please also have a look at the "Y5 Learning Summary Sheet wc 20.07.20" document. There are LOADS of fun and useful 'Optional' activities for you to enjoy on there. Don't forget to share your wonderful work  on your Class Dojo Portfolio!
