Consultation on a proposal to join Equals Trust and convert to academy status

Background
The governing body is considering its options to continue to provide an excellent education for their pupils while protecting its role as a school at the heart of its community and retaining its unique qualities and strengths.
While our school is doing well, in an increasingly challenging educational landscape we recognise that maintaining and improving school performance needs a more robust and sustainable plan. Therefore, the governing body has been considering the future plans of its school and has taken the decision to join Equals Trust.
After a period of detailed investigation, including assessing the benefits and risks of doing so, the Governing Body agreed unanimously that, in principle the school should join Equals Trust, subject to the outcome of consultation with staff, parents, carers and the wider school community. The Equals Trust is a local partnership of Nottinghamshire primary schools and Round Hill would be the fourteenth member school, should we finally decide to join.
We believe pupils and staff would benefit from the greater opportunities that formal partnership, through the Trust, would bring, which include:
- extending learning opportunities and activities for pupils
- enriching the curriculum through partnership working and shared resources
- enabling the sharing of excellent practice in teaching and learning
- enhancing the professional development of teaching and support staff
- securing cost and resource efficiencies through joint commissioning of services
Consultation
We are now consulting with staff, parents, carers, pupils and the community. The consultation period will run between 1st March 2023 and 26th April 2023. Meetings will be held in the school hall on:
- Tuesday 21st March 2023 - 2:30-3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday 21st March 2023 - 6:00-7:00 p.m.

The governing body will then consider a report on the academy consultation before making a final decision on whether to proceed with the proposal. If the governing body agree to proceed, the plan is for the school to convert during the summer/autumn term 2023 or as soon as is practical.

Finally, we want to emphasise that no final decision has been made and the outcome of the consultation will be important to that decision.
