The Finance and General Purposes Committee considered the question “Do we have sound financial strategies, get good value for money and have robust procedures and financial systems?” The Governors reviewed and approved the schools “Best Value Statement”, draft budget for 2016/17 and staff structure for September 2016. The Governors also discussed “Services to Schools”, which are the services that the school buys in from the Local Authority and the Schools Advisory Service, including insurance, finance, catering, grounds maintenance and cleaning services. There was a progress update on the actions from the recent Audit Report, all of which have now been actioned, or are in the process of being actioned to meet the audit requirements. The updated Finance and Health and Safety Policies were approved and Mrs Greenhalgh, the School Business Manager, provided the Governors with an update on recent maintenance and estates issues, including, drainage, work on tree roots and the trim trail in the large playground which is currently out of use.
