Dear Parent/Carer,

 

You may have seen information in the press recently regarding letters about a so called ‘Punish a Muslim day’.

 

Sadly it has come to our attention that some of our families have received these letters, the content of which is extremely disturbing and clearly inciting violence and racial hatred. This is a criminal offence and as such we have reported any letters that we are aware of to the police. Their advice was that if you receive one, you should place it is a plastic bag or wallet to prevent contamination and take it to the police as well as notifying school so that we can monitor the situation.

 

As a school, we are extremely proud of our diverse and inclusive community and therefore we take any incidents of Race Hate very seriously and are proactive in preventing them. We will therefore be talking to the children about this in a sensitive and age appropriate manner.
