PHOTO PERMISSIONS

In our Bulletin on 5th April there was some information regarding the photo permissions that we hold for your child.  Thank you to all those parents who have completed the electronic form already.

As a reminder for those parents who haven’t yet done this, we are currently updating the photo permission that we have on record for your child.  To assist us in this process we need you to complete an electronic form by following the link below.  It should only take a couple of minutes.  If you have more than one child in school, please complete the form for each of your children separately. Click here or type the link into your browser:

Please note, these photo permissions that we are requesting will be effective as of September 2019.

PARENTS’ FORUM

The revised date for the Parents’ Forum is Thursday 13th June 2019.  The meeting will run twice, once at 2.00 p.m. and again at 6.00 p.m. to assist parents in being able to make it.  Please let a member of the office team know if you are planning on coming along.

What is Parents’ Forum?  The main purpose of the Parents’ Forum Group is for the school's leaders and governors to listen to the views of our parents/carers but we also use it when we are introducing something new so we can test out new initiatives and use the feedback before things are rolled out across school. Click here to see more details.  We don’t talk about issues related to individual children, so if you have any individual concerns then please get in touch with the office so that we can deal with them appropriately.

The only item on the agenda for this term is the school vision for the next 5 years.  Two members of staff are coming along to update the Forum about our discussions and gather feedback about the progress we have made so far.

It is worth noting that I don’t intend to discuss the ongoing work around the MAT debate as this process is being dealt with by other means. I will have some nice biscuits if you can spare us an hour of your time!

SCHOOL MENU

Due to the Inset Day on Monday 3rd June, the school menu on Tuesday 4th June will be Monday’s menu (vegetarian roll, gravy and jacket wedges). The normal menu will resume on Wednesday 5th June.

SAFE IN THE SUN

We always encourage the children to be safe in the sun.  When we return after the half term holiday we will ensure that children do not spend too much time in direct sunlight.  Children are encouraged to wear a named sun hat and when required, please apply sun cream before they come to school in the morning.  We always ensure children have access to plenty of drinking water during the day to help keep them hydrated.

MATHLETICS

As you may be aware, Mathletics is currently unavailable whilst we explore alternative online maths programmes. We are committed to ensuring that we provide the best available online resources for our pupils and thank you for your patience whilst we assess all options. We will notify all parents as soon as there are any further updates.

READING BOOK AMNESTY

We are currently in the process of auditing all of our school reading books and are finding quite a few guided reading sets with missing copies. If you have any school books at home that are not currently in use, could you please return them to your child's class teacher. Many of the books we are searching for will have a red 'Guided Reading' sticker on the front or a Round Hill stamp inside the front cover.

MAZE WRITING WEEK

The children spent a wonderful week getting lost in mazes and producing some fabulous maze related writing. We even created our own maze with the children's writing in the hall! There will shortly be a display at Beeston Library showcasing some of the children's AMAZING work, so please go along and have a look.

KEY STAGE 1 SPORTS DAY

On Tuesday 11th June, Key Stage 1 will be participating in their Sports Day event from 1.30pm-3.30pm. There will be lots of sporting activities for parents to watch and we hope that it will be an enjoyable afternoon for all. It would be fantastic if you are able to attend this event and show your support.

GIRLS’ FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

On Tuesday 7th May 2019, Mr Abdy went with 10 girls to Eastwood Town Football Club to take part in a girls’ football tournament. The girls played a number of matches and were involved in some very competitive contests. They won one match, drew another and lost two but they all had a great afternoon and were excellent representatives of the school. Well done girls!

BOYS’ FOOTBALL TEAM

The boys’ school football team was in action once again on Thursday 9th May when we welcomed Fairfield school to Round Hill. Fairfield is always a tricky opponent and it proved to be the case once more. In a very tight match, we ended up on the end of a 2-1 defeat though a great goal from Sam in the second half and an assured debut from Arty were definite highlights. We now look forward to defending our title at the South Broxtowe Sports Association tournament. Wish us luck!

THE IKANO BANK ROBIN HOOD MINI MARATHON – SUNDAY 29TH SEPT 2019

Following on from the fantastic RHA Fun Run event on Saturday, I thought I would pass on the details of another great event. The Robin Hood mini-marathon is a 1.5m (2.5km) route along the River Trent mainly designed for children but adults are also able to join in. Many children and parents have entered already but it would be wonderful to have a big crowd of Round Hill children, parents and teachers there.

For more information or to book your place please go to: http://www.robinhoodhalfmarathon.co.uk/race-info/mini-marathon.htm

Thank you and we hope you will be able to join us!
