Welcome Back

Welcome back to school following our half term break.  We have got an exciting half term to look forward to.  Please remember to check the calendar on our website for a reminder of all of the things we have planned.  You can access the calendar by clicking here

Staffing Update                Mrs Aplin will be leaving school at the end of December as she and her family are emigrating to Australia. This is a wonderful opportunity and I am sure you will join us in wishing her all of the best for the future.   We are pleased to announce that after a successful round of interviews in October, a new teacher, Miss Lewis, will be teaching the Puffins class from January 2020. In the next few weeks the teachers will work together to make sure that all information is passed on to make sure there is a smooth transition.

Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo): We are also pleased to announce that Mrs Briggs will be the school Special Educational Needs Co-coordinator in a permanent capacity from January 2020. This is a full-time position and therefore Badgers Class will be having a new class teacher called Miss Swain who will be in school in the next few weeks to meet the children and to provide a smooth transition. The added advantage will be that Mrs Briggs will continue to work with some of the children in Badgers and be able to pass on her knowledge of the children as the year progresses.

If you feel your child might be unduly affected by the above changes then please do get in touch.

School Drop Off                When dropping off your child / children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the mornings, please ensure you leave them to line up with their class.  If you want to stay and watch your child into school then please do so at a distance.  This not only helps to make them more independent but also helps make sure all the children get into school under the supervision of the teacher.

Parents are not able to enter school in the mornings from the playground unless accompanied by a member of staff.  If you need to come into school for anything, please come to the main front door, not via any other entrance, for safe guarding reasons.

Midday Supervisor Vacancy        We have Midday Supervisor positions available, 5 hrs 25 mins per week.  Please contact the School Office for more details.

Children in Need              We will be celebrating Children in Need on Friday 15th November.  Children are allowed to come into school in non-uniform to raise money for Children in Need.  Our school theme this year is ‘Dare to be Spotacular’ so children can come in clothing which is spotty.   An optional family donation of 50p or more would be great to help us raise some money for this great cause.

Nits        Before half term there were outbreaks of nits in some classes – letters have been sent home to those classes.  This is therefore just a request to please check your child’s hair regularly and if necessary, treat accordingly.  Your local pharmacist will be able to help with any queries or concerns.

Parents’ Forum A reminder that the date of the next Parents’ Forum is Thursday 14th November at 2.30 p.m. and again at 6.00 p.m.  The 6.00 p.m. session will only go ahead if there are sufficient numbers so please let the office know if you are planning to attend.
