Week Beginning 08.06.20

Hello Year 6's!

Here are your learning activities for this week. You can find plenty more 'optional' activities to complete by looking at the 'Weekly Work Summary' document at the bottom of this page.

We can't wait to see your work uploaded onto your Class Dojo Portfolios. Keep up the hard work, we are so proud of all of you.

Take care and have a fantastic week,

The Year 5/6 Teachers

Financial Literacy: This week we are working through lessons 3-5 of our Financial literacy work. Work through each lesson and complete the task at the end of each one. Lesson 4 has a sheet for you to complete, which you can either print and fill in, or copy out. These will be completed in school.

Arithmetic skills: Try to do an arithmetic activity each day by challenging yourself with the Daily 10  here. Screenshot your scores if you can and post them on Class Dojo.

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Soundcheck and 10 Garage games which have been set for you.

Lesson 1: Work through “Writing Lesson 1”, completing the “Writing Lesson 1 Sheet”. There is a video to watch and questions to answer. Read the instructions carefully so you know when to answer each question.

Lesson 2: Work through “Writing Lesson 2”. Complete the activities in “Writing Lesson 2 Resources” and the “Newspaper Template Sheet” as you work through the slides.

These will be completed in school.

Spelling and Grammar (SPaG):

Spelling: Practise 10 of the statutory spelling words for your year group (See the 'Year 5 and 6 Statutory spellings' document below).

Grammar: Look through the "SPaG Commas for clarity information" document, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Then complete the activity called “The Zoo Tiger” which has been set for you on Purple Mash.

This week’s reading comprehension activity, all about Apollo 13, can be found in the "Reading Comprehension Apollo 13" document.

Please complete the 1-star, 2-star or 3-star activity - whichever you feel is most appropriate. Our suggestion would be that Year 5 pupils try the 2-star task and Year 6 pupils complete the 3-star task.

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.

Broader curriculum:

Topic: Parabolic Curves. Look through the information on the school website and either use the templates which can be found there or create your own. This will be completed in school.

PE: Keep exercising with Joe Wicks!

Computing: Complete “2animate” on Purple Mash by creating animated scenes and repeating and changing images in a storyboard. This will be completed in school.

PSHE & More!:  Amazing optional tasks are detailed in the "Weekly Work Summary" document below. We can't wait to see the work that you complete! PSHE will be completed in school.

Extra fun learning:

Please also have a look at the "Y6 Weekly Work Summary wc 08.06.20" document. There are LOADS of fun and useful 'Optional' activities for you to enjoy on there. Don't forget to share your wonderful work  on your Class Dojo Portfolio!
