Week Beginning 13.07.20

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please look at the 'Learning Summary' PDF overview of tasks we’d like children to complete at home this coming week. They can share what they are doing with us on Class Dojo. For those children coming into school, activities with the school logo beside them will be completed in school so should not be done at home in advance.

Warmest regards,

UKS2 Team.

Transition to Secondary School:

Your “Be Awesome, Go Big” (BA-GB) workbook can be picked up from school if you don’t already have one, or it can be downloaded from the school website. This week, we are completing lessons 7, 8 and 9. Work through the slides, and complete the relevant tasks in your workbook. (This activity will be completed  in school)

Maths:

Financial Literacy: This week we are working through lesson 16 of our Financial Literacy work. Work through the lesson and complete the task at the end. There is a worksheet below for you to use. (This activity will be completed  in school)

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Soundcheck and 10 Garage games which have been set for you.

Writing:

Imagine that you are the owner of an unusual animal called a miptor. Your task is to write a guide for looking after this animal. Use the planning sheet and checklist on the school website to help you, then write up your guide in neat.

Spelling and Grammar (SPaG):

Grammar: Visit this website and complete the lesson, quizzes and activities which are all about using lists of three!

Spelling: At the end of the above SPaG lesson, there are some spelling words for you to practice, all using the suffix –ably.

Reading:

This week’s reading comprehension is on a text called “The Moon”.

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.

Topic:

Visit France! For the next 2 weeks, we would like you to work on a project all about France. There is a section on the school website which contains a grid of ideas and some resources you can use. Choose from any of the activities and complete as many as you can. Read the France Powerpoint before you start. If you’ve got an idea that isn’t on the grid, feel free to do that too! Be as creative as you can!

Leavers' Book: Continue working on your Leavers’ Book from school . This week we are aiming to complete up to and including the page "A final message to Round Hill". Use the space on each page to write down your memories and stick in any photos you have. You can also decorate the pages. Remember that this is something you will be able to look back at when you’re older, so make it something you’re proud of.  (This activity will be completed  in school)

Pentominoes: Find out what pentominoes are, try some pentomino challenges and make some art with pentominoes! If you cannot print the pentominoes at home, try drawing your own instead. There are instructions and resources below.  (This activity will be completed  in school)

Broader curriculum:

PE: Keep exercising with Joe Wicks! There is also an optional set of activities linked to racket sports which you can try out (see below).

Computing: Snail Race: Create a race to find the fastest snail on Purple Mash!

Science, R.E., P.S.H.E & More!:  Amazing optional tasks are detailed in the "Learning Summary" document below. We can't wait to see the work that you complete!

Extra fun learning:

Please also have a look at the "Y6 Learning Summary Sheet wc 13.07.20" document. There are LOADS of fun and useful 'Optional' activities for you to enjoy on there. Don't forget to share your wonderful work  on your Class Dojo Portfolio!
