Week Beginning 22.06.20

Hello Year 6's!

Here are your learning activities for this week. You can find plenty more 'optional' activities to complete by looking at the 'Learning Summary Sheet' document at the bottom of this page.

For those children coming into school, activities with the school logo beside them  on the Learning Summary document will be completed in school so should not be done at home in advance.

We can't wait to see your work uploaded onto your Class Dojo Portfolios. Keep up the terrific work, we really do love seeing the brilliant things that you have been doing.

Take care and have a fantastic week,

The Year 5/6 Teachers

Financial Literacy: This week we are working through lessons 9-11 of our Financial Literacy work. Work through each lesson and complete the task at the end of each one.

Harry Potter Maths: Work through the “Maths HP Lesson 2” alongside the “Maths HP Lesson 2 Worksheet” from the school website and do some Harry Potter Maths! For some questions, you will need to look at the sheets for some pieces of information.

Arithmetic skills: Try to do an arithmetic activity each day by challenging yourself with these quizzes.

Times Table Rockstars: Play the 10 Arena and 10 Soundcheck games which have been set for you.

* Please complete this week’s Reading Comprehension before starting the writing lessons. *

We are going to be planning and starting to draft a story this week. There are three Writing lessons for you to work through. Work through the slides and complete the tasks as you go along. There are some sheets on the school website to help you. Please do not write the whole story, just the parts you are asked to for now.

Spelling and Grammar (SPaG):

Spelling: Practise 10 of the statutory spelling words for your year group (See the 'Year 5 and 6 Statutory spellings' document below).

Grammar: Work through the quiz and then watch the video about relative clauses on this link. Complete the activity at the end. If you pause the video and click “next”, you will be able to see the worksheets.

This week’s reading comprehension is about a girl called Maud, and a dragon! You can find it on the school website. Please do the reading comprehension before you start this week’s Writing lessons!

Daily reading! Remember to read something which interests you for at least 5 minutes every day.

Leavers' Book: Continue working on your Leavers’ Book from school . This week we are aiming to complete up to and including the pages about Y6 memories. Use the space on each page to write down your memories and stick in any photos you have. You can also decorate the pages. Remember that this is something you will be able to look back at when you’re older, so make it something you’re proud of.

Dream Catcher: Try creating your own Dream Catcher or Wind Chime. You can find more information and ideas on the school website.

African Patterns:  Look through the information about African patterns and use the ideas and links to help you create your own fantastic artwork inspired by African patterns.

Broader curriculum:

PE: Keep exercising with Joe Wicks (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday)

Computing: Complete “2Sequence” on Purple Mash. Drag and drop the sounds into the grid. Explore harmony and build up musical scores.

Science, R.E. & More!:  Amazing optional tasks are detailed in the "Weekly Work Summary" document below. We can't wait to see the work that you complete!

Extra fun learning:

Please also have a look at the "Y6 Learning Summary Sheet wc 22.06.20" document. There are LOADS of fun and useful 'Optional' activities for you to enjoy on there. Don't forget to share your wonderful work  on your Class Dojo Portfolio!
