Round Hill Bulletin – 6th November 2018
The Round Hill Bulletin is designed to help disseminate important information in between monthly Newsletters. A copy will be placed on the School Website.
Welcome Back Welcome back to school following our half term break. We have got an exciting half term to look forward to. Please remember to check the calendar on our website for a reminder of all of the things we have planned. You can access the calendar by clicking here.
Parents Evening We are looking forward to meeting with you at the first Parent/Teacher Consultation Meeting of the school year on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th November.
Children in Need We will be celebrating Children in Need on Friday 16th November. Children are allowed to come into school in non-uniform to raise money for Children in Need. This year’s theme is “Do Your Thing” so children can come in clothing which represents their “thing” e.g. football kit, dance wear or any other non-uniform. An optional family donation of 50p or more would be great to help us raise some money for this great cause.
Remembrance Day We have some stick on poppies available in the school reception area from The Royal British Legion. Children can donate some money and take a poppy to wear.
sQuid Dinner Money If you have a child in Years 3, 4, 5 or 6 and they have hot school meals at lunchtimes please ensure that there are always sufficient funds in your sQuid account. The cost of a school meal is £2.29 per day / £11.45 per week. If your child has a school dinner every day, please ensure that there is at least £11.45 in your account by 9am on a Monday morning.
Late Arrivals This half term we are going to be extra vigilant with regards to children being late to school. Periodically, either myself or a member of the Leadership Team will be at one of the school gates or at the main front door to monitor late arrivals. Please help us to start the school day well by your child getting to school on time.
School starts at 8.50 a.m. and the gates close promptly just after this. Late arrivals must go to the front of school and speak to a member of the office team. If your child is only late occasionally then there is nothing to worry about - I would rather have your child arrive late safely than not at all. We are aware however, that several children are late regularly and we want to help promote good attendance so if you are having difficulties please do come in and speak to us so we may assist you in getting your child to school on time.
Parent Governor Elections Round Hill governing body has three vacancies for parent governors and is looking for parents who have children at the school. Please look out for a letter that will be coming home with your child towards the end of November giving full details of what a parent governor role entails and how you can apply.
Harvest Festival Collection Thank You Thank you for your contributions to the harvest display. The Charity Hope asked me to pass on their thanks.
Writing Challenge In the Bulletin on 3rd October we highlighted that in line with our plans for continued school improvement we would be focussing this year on writing. I am pleased to report that the differences we have made have had an immediate impact. The children’s work across school has improved and feedback from the children has been really positive.
We held an assembly today and highlighted to the children how we are all working together to further improve our writing. Over the next few weeks and months we aim to reward those children who show improvements in their writing. We have created a new webpage which we will add more to during the term. Click here
