Year 1 Phonics Homework

To support children with their Phonics decoding, we will be sending home additional weekly homework. We will be sending home a list of Pseudo nonsense words otherwise known as 'alien' words. The aim of this is to practise decoding by segmenting and blending. The children will also receive a Phase 3 and Phase 5 wordmat which lists all the phonemes (sounds) the children are expected to know. 

At home the children should practise spotting by pointing or underlining the digraphs/trigraphs and reading these aloud. Please see the videos below which show the pronunciation of the Phase 3 and 5 sounds.
