What is the role of the EDI champions?

We are incredibly proud to have wonderful EDI Champions at Round Hill from Years 1 to 6.

I am pleased to inform you that the EDI Champions Club will resume after the October half-term holiday. The club will take place on Tuesdays during lunchtime, from 12:30 to 1:00 pm. Children will be able to enjoy an early “clubs” lunch at 12:00 pm, whether they have a school meal or a packed lunch.

The role of an EDI Champion is a significant responsibility, and training is provided. This training is designed to enhance pupils’ communication and interpersonal skills while allowing them to explore ways to support other children at Round Hill. Upon completing the training, children will be awarded a lanyard and certificate. The lanyards indicate that these children are trained and approachable for help, and staff will also recognise them. Each week, we will cover a new theme or focus, and the timetable for the year can be accessed in the document attached below.

The role of an EDI Champion includes:

  • Being a peer mentor for pupils who are new to English or new to school.
  • Supporting other children during break and lunch times.
  • Acting as a role model for other pupils.
  • Conducting tours of the school for new families and children.
  • Raising awareness of Fundamental British Values.
  • Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion at Round Hill.
  • Using their first language to communicate with others, where applicable.
  • Raising the profile of multilingualism within the school.
  • Reminding others about key religious and cultural festivals throughout the year.
  • Designing our EDI logo for the school website, badges, and displays.

If, after discussing it with your child, they would like to become an EDI Champion, please complete the consent form below. If your child was an EDI Champion last year and would like to continue, please resubmit the permission form below.

EDI Champions Club Updates

The children have been working exceptionally hard and have nearly completed their EDI training. We all had a go at designing a logo for the club to be used on our badges. There were so many fantastic designs including these:

The children will soon be receiving their badges and lanyards and starting their duties around the school.
