Funding in Schools – Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium Funding is funding from the government which is given to schools to support some children to succeed in their school life in a number of ways. Pupil Premium Funding must be applied for by parents/carers.

We are asking for your support in ensuring that if you are eligible for Pupil Premium that you apply for this, preferably by the end of September each year, to ensure the additional funding is allocated to our school.

It is very quick and easy to apply and you can apply either online (see details below) or via phone on 0300 500 8080.

To apply online, you need the login details that you used to apply for your child’s school place.  Please click here to be taken to Nottinghamshire County Council’s website and follow the instructions.

Your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium Funding if you receive:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earning from up to three of your most recent assessment periods).
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after the person stops qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

There are many benefits to families including free school meals continuing once your child reaches Year 3, financial support for school trips/visits and subsidised music lessons from Year 4 onwards.

How do we use the Pupil Premium?

Schools are able to decide how best to spend the Pupil Premium money as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their school. Schools are required to publish online information about how they have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support that they receive.

At Round Hill Primary School we support all our pupils. We do this by providing high quality teaching, supplemented by interventions to support vulnerable learners as and when required and providing opportunities for all of our pupils. The School Leadership Team and the Governing Body monitors the impact of all spending and interventions, including the Pupil Premium.
